New Beginnings: A Pattern Underground Prelude

This week marks the start of the year of the Snake. A time traditionally associated with wisdom, transformation, and growth. The Snake teaches us this: just as it sheds its skin, we too have the opportunity to release what no longer serves us, creating space for something new.

The wood element, tied to this year, invites us to stay grounded, trust the process, and grow in ways that feel true to who we are. But transformation isn’t tied to the calendar - it’s something we can choose in any moment. It always begins here and now, in the present. Every choice, every step, every moment holds the potential for change.

But it’s easy to want change, yet far harder to take the steps to actually create it. We make plans, dream of transformation, and tell ourselves, ‘This is the moment things will be different.’ Yet somehow, we stay in the same familiar patterns. Maybe it’s promising we’ll start tomorrow, or clinging to what feels safe - even when we know it no longer serves us. Wanting change is easy. Letting go of the old to make space for something new? That’s the harder step.

So here’s the real question: What are we holding onto? What stories, dreams, or versions of ourselves are we afraid to let go of? And what might be possible if we did?

Together, we’ll explore the patterns that shape our lives - the ones that help us grow and the ones that keep us stuck - through the lens of the stories we love. This isn’t about fixing ourselves or chasing perfection. It’s about seeing clearly, letting go, and discovering what transformation truly means.
